Watching Movies of Life - the Movie Meditation

These descriptions of certain emotional states of mind are intended to encourage us to watch specific aspects of our life as if they were a movie. A five star movie in this list is not rated necessarily as a highly entertaining, mainstream movie. Instead, a good movie suggested here may more accurately reflect the drama of life in all its facets -- the shadow of an emotion as well as its positive side. Find out what moves you and learn to simply let it be. Meditation is watching, unidentified and non-judging.

The shadow side

Being chaotic and without discipline, allowing things to fall to pieces, being irresponsible for yourself, allowing others to dominate and conquer you, love of quarreling and fighting, having no constructive ideas, being angry, violent and destructive, allowing others to be destructive to yourself, being alone in an attack of many.

The light side

Being strong, able to save oneself, being disciplined, able to fight for my truth, sticking to my truth, being immune against adversaries, being rebellious, accepting death as part of life, being centered in godliness, which is bigger than a single life.

I am Legend

In a dismal 2012, U.S. Army virologist, Lieutenant Colonel Robert Neville (Will Smith) is left as the last healthy human in New York City and possibly the entire world. A series of flashbacks and past and recorded news programs reveal that a genetically re-engineered virus created in 2009 as a cure for cancer, mutated into a lethal airborne strain that spread worldwide and killed 5.4 billion people, or 90% of humanity. Only 12 million possessed a natural immunity. The remaing 588 million degenerated into primal, aggressive beings (a different race of vampires) referred to as "Darkseekers" (the DVD subtitles refer to them as hemocytes) who have a painful intolerance to UV radiation, forcing them to hide in buildings and other dark places during the day. The immune regular humans were hunted, killed by other humans, killed by the Infected or committed suicide...

Fearless

Max Klein is a survivor of a plane crash. Many die, including his business partner. The trauma transforms his entire life. He enters an altered state of consciousness; soon after the crash he even thinks he is dead, and begins rethinking life, death, God, and the afterlife. Existential questions start to preoccupy his life. He moves away from his wife, son, and friends but, encouraged by an aircraft company psychiatrist, he tries to break the depression and apathy of another survivor, Carla Rodrigo, who lost her baby son during the flight. Eventually Max's increasingly dramatic attempts at pushing the boundaries between life and death succeed in jolting Carla from her uncertain state. However, after parting company with Carla, Max remains preoccupied, which endangers his relationship with his wife and son. Max has another, more serious near-death experience after eating strawberries, to which he has a severe allergic reaction. He survives and (it is implied) he recovers his emotional connection to his family and the world...
